I've had to take the lug nuts off half a dozen times already and the black finish is just as polished as when I bought them. The split piece design works very well by allowing the seat(surface that contacts the wheel) to remain stationary once tight. This helps you achieve a torque much closer to the proper torque the first time(always double check).
